Printed during World War II in the Belgium city of Kortrijk, this French language poster reads “Le complot juif contre l'Europe!” or “The Jewish conspiracy against Europe!”
The caricature depicts a stereotypically ugly Jewish face above a man representing England wearing a vest and the English flag shaking the hand of Joseph Stalin whose other hand is bleeding.
This depiction, among several others, was used be Nazi Germany as an ideological weapon to convince Europeans that Jews were behind England the USSR in a plot to control Europe. Their guilt in conspiring to control Europe, the Nazis falsely argued, made them an appropriate target for extermination.
