You are here: Profiles in Hate Political Figures Mahathir Bin Muhammad

Mahathir Bin Muhammad

Mahathir Bin Muhammad was the Malaysian Prime Minister from 1981 until 2003. Throughout his political career, he voiced frequent attacks against the Jewish people. Although at times he would defend his statements to foreign media as merely critical of Zionism and Israeli policies, the wording of his statements seems to point in the other direction.

Before beginning his career as Prime Minister, Muhammad released a book titled The Malay Dilemma. In it, he suggested that "Jewish stinginess and financial wizardry gained them commercial control of Europe and provoked anti-Semitism which waxed and waned in Europe throughout the ages." He also stated that "the Jews for example are not merely hook-nosed, but understand money instinctively."

In 1994, the Mahathir Bin Muhammad's government banned Schindler's list from being screened in Malaysia. Mahathir defended this decision labeling the film propaganda intended to draw sympathy for, as well promoting a negative view of the Germans. In 1997, in the wake of the Malaysian financial crisis, he was quick to blame an American Jewish investor named George Soros. Mahathir pointed out the investor's Jewish heritage several times, while simultaneously acting suspiciously defensive about not being anti-Semitic.

In an address to the tenth Islamic conference in October of 2003, Mahathir accused the Jews of dominating world politics and economy, while hiding behind concepts such as human rights in order to avoid being questioned. In his speech, he mentioned that "we are actually very strong. 1.3 billion people cannot be simply wiped out. The Europeans killed 6 million Jews out of 12 million. But today the Jews rule this world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them. They survived 2000 years of pogroms not by hitting back, but by thinking. They invented and successfully promoted Socialism, Communism, human rights and democracy so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong, so they may enjoy equal rights with others. With these they have now gained control of the most powerful countries and they, this tiny community, have become a world power."

The audience, comprising of political, religious and academic figures, gave Mahathir Bin Muhammad a standing ovation. This underscores the dangerous willingness to accept anti-Semitism that is often found even in the most highly regarded circles in the Muslim world.

We do not want to say that this is a plot by the Jews, but in reality it is a Jew who triggered the currency plunge, and coincidentally Soros is a Jew. It is also a coincidence that Malaysians are mostly Moslem. Indeed, the Jews are not happy to see Moslems progress. If it were Palestine, the Jews would rob Palestinians. Thus this is what they are doing to our country.
