Louis Farrakhan, the national representative for the Nation of Islam, is giving Jews a chance to “redeem” themselves by seeking reparations for the injustices caused by black slavery.
In a letter addressed to Jewish leaders and presented on printed stationary, Farrakhan writes that his Historical Research Team was motivated by the charges of anti-Semitism against his organization to study the works of Jewish scholars, historians, and Rabbis.
The aim of the letter is to present to the world “a true, undeniable record of the relationship between Blacks and Jews from their own mouths and pens,” he says. This includes revealing “an undeniable record of Jewish anti-Black behavior, starting with the horror of the trans-Atlantic slave trade, plantation slavery, Jim Crow, sharecropping, the labor movement of the North and South, the unions and the misuse of our people that continues to this very moment.”
Instead of charging the Jews with being “the most deceitful so-called friend,” Farrakhan provides a more tangible punishment for past actions. Money.
Since Jews are “sitting on top of the world in power, with riches and influences, while the masses of [his] people…are in the worst condition of any member of the human family,” they should pay damages to engage in a “mutually respectful relationship” with Blacks.
This is an offer asking you and the gentiles whom you influence to help me in the repair of my people from the damage that has been done by your ancestors to mine. This is a wonderful way of the present generation of Jews to escape the Judgment of Allah (God) by aiding in the repair of His people.
If the Jews refuse this special opportunity to civilize his people then, “Allah (God) and His Messiah will bring you and your people to disgrace and ruin and destroy your power and influence here and throughout the world.”
Obviously.
The letter was sent to about a dozen senior members of Jewish organizations in the United States and included two books from the Historical Research Department: Volume 2 of The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews and Jews Selling Blacks.
There has been no official response from the Jewish community to Farrakhan’s letter, other than a few denouncements. The letter however is a blatant attempt at extortion that references common anti-Semitic myths about Jews having access to money and power.
The Nation of Islam is a religious organization founded in 1930 with the goal of resurrecting the condition of the African-American population in America. It has been included in the Southern Poverty Law Center’s list of active hate groups since 2005.
