Norway’s Minister of Culture Anniken Huitfeldt is reportedly considering banning broadcasts by Egyptian television station Al Rahma due to its promotion of anti-Semitism.

The latest reports follow the decision by the French State Audiovisual Council (CSA) to bar the station from broadcasting in France after the station violated French laws prohibiting “incitement to hatred or violence based on religion or nationality.”

“Your turn has come at last, you offspring of apes and pigs, you most accursed creatures created by Allah, you people have harmed the Prophet again and again,” the cleric said. “It has been proven that the Jews are like a cancer—if they are not removed from the body of the nation, they will kill the entire nation," said Egyptian cleric Hazem Shuman on the television station.

“In my opinion, it’s anti-Semitism. I’m going to ask the Norwegian Media Authority (Medietilsynet) to investigate if signals from this channel are transmitted here,” Huitfeldt has said.

According to Norway’s NRK news agency, there have been increased incidents of anti-Semitism in Norway by Muslims. According to the report, some teachers in Norway have blamed Al Rahma broadcasts for inspiring anti-Semitic remarks by Muslim students.
