The country’s most prestigious news and politics magazine, October, has published a new edition depicting Israel’s Prime Minister as a Nazi, to go with its lead story titled “The New Nazis: Israel’s Generals”.
October Magazine is a semi-official weekly publication published by Al Ahram, a government-owned newspaper that enjoys the highest circulation in Egypt (over one million copies per day).
As a government mouthpiece, Al Ahram was intensely supportive of deposed president Hosni Mubarak in the face of mass public protest right up to the end. Since Mubarak’s fall, his court journalists have been scurrying to deflect public outrage by rousing anger at others, particularly Israel.
Al Ahram has a long record of publishing outrageous Jewish conspiracies and blatantly anti-Semitic cartoons directed at Israel and at World Jewry, but its latest cover indicates a significant escalation of the hate rhetoric towards the Jewish State.
