Picture above is of the Ikhwanonline.com website and its logo. The word under those crossed swords is not “Freedom” as it is often translated. It is in modern standard Arabic: “And prepared” or “Prepare” or “Make Preparation” or “Make Ready” or “And Make Ready” and it refers to an important verse in Surah 8 in the Quran (alternative translation here):
“(8:60) Make ready for an encounter against them all the forces and well-readied horses you can muster that you may overawe the enemies of Allah and your own enemies and others besides them of whom you are unaware but of whom Allah is aware. Whatever you may spend in the cause of Allah shall be fully repaid to you, and you shall not be wronged.”
On Jan. 11, 2012, the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), a non-profit group that monitors and translates Arabic and Farsi media, published a report about the website of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) in Egypt, Ikhwanonline.com.
The website was found to contain articles with anti-Semitic motifs, including Holocaust denial and descriptions of the "Jewish character" as covetous, exploitative, and a source of evil in human society. While articles of this tenor have been posted on the site in the past, their posting has recently taken on greater importance in light of the group's increasing strength following the ouster of the Mubarak regime.
