Iranian Website Repaints Holocaust “Lie”

An Iranian-based cultural foundation launched a new website Thursday, aimed at denouncing “the conspicuous lie” of the Holocaust.

Run by the Khakriz Cultural Institute, the site plays the ominous “Pink Panther” theme while providing content from a 2008 book of cartoons questioning the validity of the Holocaust, and misleadingly showing how Jews have used the mass murder of six million people to their advantage.

Creators Maziar Bijani and Borzo Bitaraf (whose full contact information is available on the site) say that their project is “Dedicated to all those who were killed under the pretext of the Holocaust,” referring to the Iranian belief that Palestinians were killed under a Holocaust pretext.

“The lie which is so obvious that there is no need for any further explanation,” write the authors on the site. “The lie by which the Palestine occupier Zionists have justified their occupying of Palestine and lots of their crimes for years.”

Visitors to the site can flip through the pages of a book which mock the Jewish account of history before, during, and after the Holocaust. In a picture book tone, the site explains that “when the Allies occupied Germany, they did not find any traces of the Jews’ corpses either suffocated or burnt.” The accompanying illustration shows Jews literally framing themselves under the banner “Holocaust Victims.”

Another vignette shows a hook-nosed Jew performing a magician’s disappearing act of documents that allegedly prove the mass slaughter of the Jews by Nazis.

Perhaps most horrifically, a question phrased as “Did the Holocaust happen just during The Second World War?” is answered with “No, at first six million Jews died because of hunger and poverty in The First World War, but since no one noticed these six million Jews, they decided to keep themselves to be suffocated by Nazis during the Second World War.”

These claims are in clear contradiction to the photographs that show burning bodies smuggled out of Auschwitz, to the forensic tests that reveal the use of gas chambers and crematoria for human extermination, and to the countless testimonies that bore witness to this cruel form of death. In addition, there are statistical records of the drastic demise in Jewish populations before and after World War, which clearly support other written documents stating the death of six million Jews by physical extermination.

In 2005, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called the Holocaust a “fairy tale,” and began referring to Israel as the “Zionist regime.” He has also consistently said that Israel should not use their own experience with the Nazis to commit another Holocaust against the Palestinians.

Littered with Stars of David containing swastikas, the site is available in Farsi, English, and Arabic.
